This course on autonomic dysreflexia training course will develop knowledge and awareness of autonomic dysreflexia. By the end of the course attendees will understand the causes and consequences. It is an essential course for anyone responsible for looking after spinal injury patients.

This course is aimed at those who are new to caring in the UK, especially those

who have recently arrived in the UK, and is taught as a full day of face-to-face training, as an introduction to the

Care Certificate.

This half day course covers:

•  Anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system and the cough reflex
• Reasons for assisted cough and the health issues that may indicate a need for assisted cough 
• Complications of cough assist and how to manage them 
• Set up and operate a cough assist device correctly 
• Troubleshooting common problems and managing complications 

 This qualification provides a good basis to help learners get a ‘foot first’ into training, suitable for new and experienced trainers (external and internal) that will enable them to deliver regulated qualifications.
