PEG Care & feeding
Our standard course include all of the following, but will be tailored to meet your requirements.
- Review types of gastrostomy tubes?
- Daily, weekly and monthly care and maintenance of a PEG tube
- Understand how to administer feeds & medication procedures
- Identify the implications of administering medication through a gastrostomy tube
- Use of En-plugs
- Review procedures for effective mouth care
- How to prevent complications
- How to recognise and deal with complications
- Review documentation & record keeping
Dysphagia training
3 or 6 hour course
Our standard course include all of the following, but will be tailored to meet your requirements
- What is dysphagia
- Risk assessment and risks associated with dysphagia
- Aspiration risks and how to avoid
- IDDSI food textures and thickened liquids
- Safe swallowing
Includes practical session
Diabetes Training
Available as 6 hour courses or refresher training
Our diabetes training courses have been written by Mrs Judi Hill, Diabetes Nurse Specialist at University Trust Hospital, Birmingham. We currently offer training that covers:
- Type 1 Diabetes
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Wearable blood glucose monitoring management
- Administration of insulin
- Diet & diabetes
- Hypo & hyperglycaemia
- DKA & HHS
Each of the courses includes a practical session, with competency checks, where appropriate
